Take the kids to see majestic animals in well-maintained habitats at Buin Zoo. Established in 1999 with an emphasis on conservation, the large zoo now houses more than 2,000 animals from over 400 different species. Look for their most famous exotic animals, including white and Bengal tigers, lions, kangaroos, and orangutans. You can also see native animals, such as condors and cougars. Print a map from the website before you visit, as information on site can be scarce. Use our Buin trip itinerary planner to add Buin Zoo and other attractions to your Buin vacation plans.

  • The best zoo in Chile! Wide variety in species. It took us nearly 6 hours to complete the tour. Amazing. Great ideas to interact with the animals. It's fun in its own way. Since there are plenty of animal the zoo has managed to arrange the tour in a way tha never felt like doing the same thing twice. Awesome!
  • It's great they take care of injured animals and try to teach respect for wild life. It has enough bathrooms and places where to buy food and to eat your own food. Also there's a train from Estación Central that leaves you very near... be careful not to miss it when coming back! Mmm, I personally think there were animals with not enough space which was kind of sad to me.
  • Wide variety of species in a tight space. It's a nice principle to give a home to animals that have been saved from circuses and unlawful treatment. Compared to other zoos we've visited in other countries/continents, it smells like feaces and urine and animals like the big cats are kept in small enclosures. The animals looked healthy at the time of our visit. It appears that there are lots of staff hanging around just checking their phones or having a good time chatting among themselves. Ticket price appears fair for the time we spent there. The extra ticket for the marine show appears excessive. The show is funny but a tad too long at the end. The souvenir shop could diversify and benefit from selling more than stuff toys and bags. For example, educational stuff like posters, books, puzzles, pencil cases and sponsorships for animals.
  • Here animals don't look like they were trapped in their cages. Still a zoo but looks more animal-friendly
  • Good placr for entertaiment
