Architectural Building
Appreciate the architecture and learn the history of San Marcos Church, a Catholic cathedral declared to be a National Monument of Chile in 1984. Designed by famous French engineer Gustave Eiffel--whose other work includes the tower in Paris that bears his name--the neo-Gothic building consists mainly of metal, except for the two wooden doors. The lively facade, adorned in colorful decorations, complements the look of its surroundings. A church bell, which was itself declared an historic monument in 2002, stands out as the main attraction inside. • Cathedral full of history, built of wood, simple but beautiful. It breathes tranquillity inside. Good place to reconnect with one's self and pray quietly.

  • Situated in the center of Arica and the slopes of el Morro, is this cute Cathedral, open to the public, if it is that you want to enter. It is a stop, to my taste, which is required if you are in Arica.
