El Morro de Arica, Arica

4.4
Admire sweeping views of the city and sea on El Morro de Arica, a centrally located hill. From the top, you can see the city, port, and cliff towering over the rocks and water below. A statue of Jesus stands on the hill, as does a military history museum. Locals tend to visit the place, so this makes a good spot to meet some people from the area. A quick, steep walk from the center will get you there, or you can hire a taxi. Bring your own food and water. • It has a viewpoint, can be all over the city, but no more than that. If enough time is OK, if it gives the same. There is also a museum that not between, perhaps would unite been more interesting visit, but I didn't have time to do it.

  • The ride is fairly brief, a 15 to 20 minute walk to reach the nose where a panoramic view of the city, we will also find a Christ, a Museum of arms and we are at the foot of the giant Chilean bicentennial flag. It can also be reached by vehicle. It is important to (very clean) bathrooms there at the top. I recommend going to see the sunset.

  • The Morro de Arica is undoubtedly one of the biggest attractions this city boasts. With 110 meters in height, it is possible to access a panoramic view of the surrounding area, and historical vestiges that recall the war episode that starred in the country in the 19th century, a museum located at the top. The rock belonging to the Cordillera de la Costa, was the main strength in the war of the Pacific, where are the strong Citadel, strong East, the strong fat nose and Morro under Naval Base. It is possible to distinguish cannons, the bust of Colonel Pedro Lagos and the monument to the unknown soldier.
