Catedral de San Marcos, Arica

(3.8/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Appreciate the architecture and learn the history of Catedral de San Marcos, a Catholic cathedral declared to be a National Monument of Chile in 1984. Designed by famous French engineer Gustave Eiffel--whose other work includes the tower in Paris that bears his name--the neo-Gothic building consists mainly of metal, except for the two wooden doors. The lively facade, adorned in colorful decorations, complements the look of its surroundings. A church bell, which was itself declared an historic monument in 2002, stands out as the main attraction inside.
