Plaza de Armas, Ancud

#3 of 11 in Things to do in Ancud
Landmark Tourist Spot
Sit and take a break from your day's activities at Plaza de Armas, a small but bustling central square that regularly hosts a craft bazaar. Overlooked by the town hall, the square displays a collection of mythological Chilote sculptures in the central gazebo, echoing a similar collection in the nearby regional museum (located one block south). The city's tourist information office also sits on the south side of the square. Plan your Plaza de Armas visit and explore what else you can see and do in Ancud using our Ancud vacation generator.

  • Quite a nice plaza with its cathedral at the top end. A good time to visit is towards the end of the day when the families are out with kids playing.  more »
  • This was busy in our visit as the Chilean Telethon events were taking place. There's a lot of traffic on all sides, but it's still a good place to meet up and relax.  more »

  • Nice relaxed place
  • Your typical Chilean central plaza...
  • Beautiful place very indigenous, here you will find some sculptures of the mythological creatures of the island, in cancagua stone. If you want to know the sculptor of these works of art, sees the House of culture front of the plaza.

  • It's nice to see the sculptures and read some of the mythology and legends of chilota culture, as well as a beautiful image of the Church.
