4.3
#1 of 6 in Museums in Isla Chiloe
Learn more about the cultural heritage of the people of Chiloé through a collection of archaeological, religious, and ethnographic objects, texts, and photographs at Museo Regional de Ancud. Since its 1976 inauguration, the museum has worked to preserve more than 6,000 years of history--from hunter-gatherers, to indigenous populations, colonization, and European settlement. The museum is laid out over several rooms and two courtyards, and it includes a life-size replica of the Goleta Ancud schooner, a Chilean warship built in 1843, in one of the courtyards. At the end of the tour you'll have the opportunity to purchase authentic arts and crafts like the ones on display as a souvenir. It tells you everything about how and who formed the different cities of the island and their ancestors. It is small, free and on one side of the square and Cathedral. If you're out there, explore and learn.

If you go through Ancud, you can not miss the Regional Museum. You'll find information and interesting exhibits, including a replica of the goleta Ancud, which will allow you to measure the epic (that many times is very well-known or remembered!) of the sailors who were able to incorporate a very significant territorial fraction to the national State.

Very nice but lack much of the culture of Chiloé very explanatory and lack of information. On the other hand very nice interactive part to encourage the children.
