Museo Andino, Alto Jahuel

A big bonus to visiting a local winery, Museo Andino details the history of the area and its people. The museum displays artifacts from various pre-Columbian civilizations, including textiles, metalwork, pottery, and leather. Descriptions of the exhibited works are helpfully displayed in English, so you won't have to break out your phrase book. Tours of the winery and museum can be combined in a single ticket as an affordable way of seeing two of the area's major attractions. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Alto Jahuel holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Museo Andino and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The Andean Museum, is located in the Viña Santa Rita, has one of the best and most valuable collections of pottery, textiles, harpoons etc from North, Central and Araucano. Some parts of ceremonial vessels in gold and silver. If you go to the vineyard it can not see this beautiful Museum very well arranged rooms and with a design explanations clear and easy to understand, you have a great gift shop and admission is free, just do not take pictures because they damage exposed parts.

  • This museum is located in the Santa Rita Winery, and is free, at least for those who do some of the guided tours to the vineyard. I liked the layout of the rooms, the themes of the showcases, the collection of objects and ornaments of gold (not had never seen before something like this), the heated environment, the acoustics of the place. If you participated in any tours in the vineyard, I recommend visiting the Museum, free and interesting to see the collections of arrowheads, Harpoon-like, clothing, buckets, objects of gold, of civilizations of Chile and the rest of America.

  • It is a bit of a shame that this Museum is located out of the city (it is in Santa Rita Vineyards) because its collection is really vast. The size of the museum is perfect so you don't need hours to revise it all. The room with Inca gold is very spectacular and the posts next to each item are in English and Spanish. The museum includes mostly pre-Columbus art, it also has some everyday items from the Conquistadors and early Chileans.
  • Amazing..!
  • Ok
  • Small but nice museum of the cultures in Chile.
