Kittiwake Shipwreck & Artificial Reef, West Bay

Reef Ship
Explore the wreckage of a former World WarII U.S. submarine rescue ship at Kittiwake Shipwreck & Artificial Reef. Accessible to both certified divers and snorkelers, the wreck houses a large variety of colorful marine life, with eagle rays skimming through the sand below. Clear waters and openings in the ship itself allow sufficient lighting for you to navigate and examine the ship's many rooms underwater. The wreck itself is still quite new, so there is not much coral growth. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, West Bay holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Kittiwake Shipwreck & Artificial Reef and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • I think it was OK, but I think this is mostly a scuba diving adventure. From the surface, I did not see a lot of fish and I think that the ship was kind of short and uninteresting from an overhead per...  more »

  • You have to dive this if you're here. Super, super cool. Going into the ship is just unbelievable. There are mirrors in the head so you can even see yourself wearing SCUBA gear underwater.
  • I am from Grand Cayman and have been diving since i was 10 years old and i have never been on a dive as amazing as the Kittiwake! Macabuca (Cracked Conch) is a great shore dive if you dont want to go with red sail.
