Kittiwake Shipwreck & Artificial Reef, West Bay

(4.7/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
Explore the wreckage of a former World WarII U.S. submarine rescue ship at Kittiwake Shipwreck & Artificial Reef. Accessible to both certified divers and snorkelers, the wreck houses a large variety of colorful marine life, with eagle rays skimming through the sand below. Clear waters and openings in the ship itself allow sufficient lighting for you to navigate and examine the ship's many rooms underwater. The wreck itself is still quite new, so there is not much coral growth. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, West Bay holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Kittiwake Shipwreck & Artificial Reef and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • A must for divers! Very cool wreck dive and the water is so warm. You see a variety of fish. There are many dive companies that go out to the wreck in George Town.
  • Our snorkeling experience was nice but there aren't as many fish on the wreck as we excepted. It is also more of a dive location due to the depth of 25 feet. The crew did a great job keeping us all sa...  more »

  • Incredible experience! We went snorkeling here with Cayman Diving (excellent group by the way) - next time we're definitely doing scuba so we can swim through the ship and not just over it.
  • Awesome dive. Can't wait to go back
  • Super cool
  • Amazing best dive I've ever done. The decompression chamber with air trapped in it was especially memorable. Did this dive two years ago and will be doing it again today.
  • A beautiful shipwreck that is close enough to surface to see clearly when just snorkeling.
