Kittiwake Shipwreck & Artificial Reef, West Bay

4.7
Explore the wreckage of a former World WarII U.S. submarine rescue ship at Kittiwake Shipwreck & Artificial Reef. Accessible to both certified divers and snorkelers, the wreck houses a large variety of colorful marine life, with eagle rays skimming through the sand below. Clear waters and openings in the ship itself allow sufficient lighting for you to navigate and examine the ship's many rooms underwater. The wreck itself is still quite new, so there is not much coral growth. • You take a nice boat ride over to the Kittiwake wreck. It was sunk on purpose to make an artifical reef. The water is very, very salty. Took care of my sore throat! Then you reboard the boat to go to ...  more »
  • This was a really cool dive. I wish I dove it more than one time. It really takes a whole dive just to take in all there is to see on the outside and one dive to explore inside. It really is a fascina...  more »
  • Kittiwake with Reef Divers was a lot of fun. We were led through the ship and swam from the bottom deck all the way up to the 3rd level. If you like to swim through stuff while diving this is about as...  more »

  • This is an amazing dive site. Make sure that everyone in your group knows what they are doing. Our dive instructor cut our dive short case some of the divers were not properly weighted and kept floating towards the surface. At the shipwreck there are not many fish and it is dark inside the wreck, but an amazing dive all the same. The reef dive was beautiful and easy dive. Simply stunning.
  • This is a great wreck dive. Easy penetration. Lots of access. Close to beautiful reefs.
  • Great spot to scuba dive or snorkel. Best from a boat on a group tour.
  • Amazing wreck. Since it moved the inner dive has become amazing. The outside makes me a bit sad only because I'd visited it 5 times before when it was upright. Great dive led by LIVING THE DREAM diving!
  • The snorkeling guide was very knowledgeable about the area & history. Boat crew & captain were helpful & provided bottled water.
