Stingray City, Grand Cayman
(4.8/5 based on 4,400+ reviews on the web)
Make some lasting snorkeling memories at Stingray City, a string of shallow sandbars frequented by friendly southern stingrays. The area became a meeting place for these creatures decades ago, when local fishermen began cleaning their fish in the shallow waters and supplied the rays with an abundant source of food. Today, the sandbars draw numerous tour boats, which allow divers to disembark and interact with stingrays in the chest-deep water. Most tour operators bring pails of squid meat, which you can distribute to the gathering rays by hand. Many tours also provide snorkeling gear--you don't need it to see the rays, but it comes in handy if you intend to explore deeper areas of Grand Cayman's North Sound. Put Stingray City and other West Bay attractions into our West Bay vacation trip planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • We went on a Red Sail Breakfast trip to stingray city, total of 4 hours. Since we got to the area early, there were not any other boats. By the time we left there were 4 or 5 other boats in the area a...  more »
  • A wonderful experience. I held one ray for 8-10 minutes as there were very few people at Stingray City. Redsail Sports did a nice job.
  • The excursion from the port outside you can hire by 25 dollars carry you in a combi until the northern part of the island and you embark in a boat of about 50 people, after some 20 to 30 minutes of navigation will take you to a Bank of sand, where you get water at the waist you provide masks to snorking and lifejackets. You swim with the rays (which are everywhere) pick it up you caress them, you give eating in the mouth an unforgettable wide recommended mind undoubtedly the best

  • The physical location is amazing. The water is crystal clear and the stingray experience is fun. My one gripe is that some of the charter boats think they own the place so they pull up, force people out of their way, and anchor right in the middle of the sandbar. Great weather, nice breezes, and perfect water.
  • One of the most AMAZING experiences we have ever had! You must go! The sting rays are gentle and the water is beautiful! You leave in the morning and it takes most of the day. Our package deal included a stop for snorkeling. Absolutely, incredible!
  • Absolutely loved this place! Clean and clear water, amazing view! Our tour guide was pretty cool! Recommend to go visit! Was able to take my own pictures with the stingrays!
  • An amazing experience, if a little intense for younger visitors. Very crowded with both people and stingrays, but well worth it. Guides were all helpful and informative, and something I'll never forget.
  • Definitely gotta do it when in the Caymans. My girlfriend was apprehensive to start with, then we realised they are big, beautiful, flappy pancakes. Highlight of our trip.
