  • Went to the Wapta Falls during winter. It is a short hike, 2.4 Km (each way -- since the road to the picnic grounds is closed during the winter) from the picnic area to the falls themselves. There are...  more »
  • Fairly easy & level hike to a fantastic waterfall. There is a nice viewing area. You can go all the way down to the base of the falls. Takes about 40 minutes to reach the base of the falls. If you hik...  more »
  • Having read some reviews saying the entrance road to Wapta falls is not all that easy to find, which is true, I made sure to take note of where the road is on the PDF for Yoho NP when passing through ...  more »

  • Admittedly, the view of this fall isn't that great, the shot from the side/top is nice but you don't get to see the full view of the falls. The view from the bottom is obstructed by the big hill in the middle. Why I'm Wapta 5 stars is the feeling you get when you're there. You feel this thundering vibration through your whole body that you likely won't feel anywhere else, it was quite amazing. Also don't forget the bug spray, the mosquito's are large and aggressive.
  • I have been camping at that rec site since 3 days and helped reorient 10+ tourists who couldnt find the trailhead...very confusing on google map. If you want to go to the falls DO NOT use the beaverfoot trail. If you are driving eastbound towards Alberta, keep going 3 minutes further and take the next or second right on the highway. You will see a sign. Or simply zoom in on google map you will see the real trailhead.
  • Awesome views and tremendous drive. Strongly recommend. Fall and winter time is the best.
  • Great place to visit when waiting for a jam to clear :) seriously it was a nice surprise. Forest trail a bit boring but going all the way down and witnessing the falls from a few meters is really impressive - and humid!
  • Beautiful! Must see. Walk to the bottom of the falls.
