Polo Park is a retail and entertainment destination in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It is situated on the former Polo Park Racetrack near the junction of Portage Avenue and St. James Street and is the largest mall out of the eight malls in the city. It is the 12th largest shopping centre in Canada and the largest between Toronto and Edmonton.HistoryThe Polo Park Mall opened on August 20, 1959 and became one of the first enclosed shopping malls in Canada when a roof was added in 1963, the other being the Park Royal Shopping Centre. The district was once the sports hub of Winnipeg, with the Winnipeg Arena, Canad Inns Stadium, and Winnipeg Velodrome all formerly located at Polo Park. The Velodrome was torn down in the 1990s to make way for a strip mall that includes Home Depot and Chapters. The arena and stadium have also since been demolished and replaced by new retail and office complexes. The former CKY building is situated next to the mall. It once housed the city's CTV Television Network affiliate, CKY-TV, as well as CKY radio and FM 92 CITI, and was the original home of the WTN network. Corus Radio Winnipeg has occupied the building since 2011, as part of a lease agreement between Corus Entertainment and Cadillac Fairview. Studios for CJOB 680, CJGV-FM 99.1 and CJKR-FM 97.5 are located on the second floor of the three-story building.

  • Spacious mall carrying popular brands. Decent food court and equally spacious parking space. Convenient location served by public buses.

  • Great place to shop. Lots of variety with stores. We live out of town, so it's nice to go to one place to get everything. Would be nice if there was a play area for kids to burn off steam. That's my only critique. Great place tho.
  • A lot of the more affordable stores have been replaced with very, VERY high end luxury boutiques. The prices are terrifying. When Petland, Coles, The Pretzel Wagon among other places closed down there's been really no need for me to go there. The only thing I've been excited for is The Disney Store. There could be more security manning the entrance at the bus stop. There's too many thugs, drug dealers and gang members acting careless around people and they aren't even apologetic when they nearly injure you due to their antics. Instead they shout and swear at you. I had to go all the way to customer service and have them call down a security guard over one incident and by the time I spoke with one, the perps were gone. Not really the safest mall.
  • The biggest mall in Winnipeg. There's something for everyone available here. Several barbers and hairdressers, loads of clothing, footwear, and various other specialty stores. If you don't feel like shopping, you can always play a few frames in the basement bowling alley or wander through the parking lot to the movie theater that's really close by. There's quite the selection available in the food court on the second floor.
  • Polo Park is the premium shopping mall in Winnipeg. It's a straight forward two story layout with only a single loop that's off the main drag. Its bright with lots of natural light. Ample parking in front of each entrance. The store selection is subjective depending on who you are and what you are shopping for, but as far as the mall itself goes. It's a place I don't mind stopping in at.
  • Linear set up. Save a lot of steps by calling store to see which of many entrances best or go to web site for mall map. Clean, safe, largest in city, be careful about your cars contents tho! Put everything in trunk valuable, NOT after you get there. Bicycle scouts watching you!
