  • So surprised how nice this zoo is. We are from DC and I always thought our zoo was great. This zoo may not be as large, but it is so well planned. The Churchill experience is terrific. Love watching t...  more »
  • Interesting for a ride, ample, well wooded, but as attractions even snow owls and polar bears. The bears are the major attraction of the zoo and have a prominent place in the zoo. Have a pool with a view underneath where visitors can see the bears swimming.

  • Cool place to go and really fun to see the polar bears. The tunnel you walk under while they swim around you is so much fun!  more »

  • Pleasantly surprised by the wonderful Polar bear exhibit and re-creation of Churchill. They have done a wonderful job with the large windows to view them while enjoying a bite to eat. It is also really neat that you can walk under the swimming polar bears through a glass tunnel. Everywhere you walk you will encounter a peacock just out for a stroll. I was lucky enough to see multiple peacocks open their feathers for a beautiful display. You are also able to walk with the kangaroos inside their exhibit and see the little joeys peaking out of the pouch. It was much better than I expected and spent much longer than I thought I would.
  • Not the biggest zoo but very well done. Enclosures seem large enough for the animals they contain. Polar bear exhibit is wonderful. I like the focus the zoo puts on research and informing the public on conservation.
  • Love the changes over the last few years. Can't keep my 5 year old from asking nearly daily to go see the dinosaurs. Wish they could become a permanent part of out visits. Family passes have been a well worth investment. Excited to see what comes next
  • had a great experience when we went. it was a slightly cooler day, so all the animals were out and active. the staff were all friendly and eager to share knowledge about the all animals in their care. we would definitely visit again!
  • Love the zoo. We go almost monthly. Definitely worth the price we have been to zoos all over the world and its a very reasonable price. Definitely worth getting a membership if you go more then 3 times a year. Then you don't feel like you have to see everything in one trip or to bad if it starts to rain

Where to stay in Winnipeg

For easy access to entertainment, look north of Downtown to the hip Exchange District--here you'll find some of the city's most pleasant historical architecture, as well as its most happening bar scene. If you want to mingle with the city's hipsters, stay in the leafy riverfront suburb of Wolseley, where organic markets and "fair trade" cafes abound. If you're just planning to visit Winnipeg for a night or two, you can find a range of accommodations close to the airport.
