  • World class... amazing polar bear exhibit. Watch them play fight and canoodle while you eat some fries in front of the panoramic cafe windows. Money has improved the zoo enormously...too bad the donors have to plaster their names on everything, but I guess generosity comes at a price.
  • Nice place overall, more animals than you'd expect in the city of Winnipeg. The new church-hill section is a fantastic touch, and the indoor Antarctic themed jungle gym is a great place for kids to hang out and play, with super interesting displays and games. It's a great place to walk around as well to get some mild exercise. Lot's of places to walk around there. For those who don't enjoy walking for too long or have difficulty with it, there is a transportation "bus" that will drive you around the park and drop you off in the area you want to be in. As for the food there, not terribly impressive but they do have some decent sweets and a good amount of concessions around the park. The only real thing that I was personally disappointed in, was the glass polar bear tunnel. Every time I went through it, there were no polar bears swimming around in sight. Besides that, it's a great place to visit for animal lovers, friends and family.
  • I’m not a big fan of zoos, but this one deserves five stars. The facilities, the animals, and the staff are all great. And if you want to see polar bears, this place is a must.
  • Great zoo. Polar bears are awesome. I wish the Lions and Tigers were more visible. Also wish they had Penguins.
  • Had a great time with family. Huge polar bear exhibit!!! Good variety, had a nice size stroller to rent. Prices on drinks and food are decent. Look forward to coming again!!! They have a dinosaur exhibit too!!!

Where to stay in Winnipeg

For easy access to entertainment, look north of Downtown to the hip Exchange District--here you'll find some of the city's most pleasant historical architecture, as well as its most happening bar scene. If you want to mingle with the city's hipsters, stay in the leafy riverfront suburb of Wolseley, where organic markets and "fair trade" cafes abound. If you're just planning to visit Winnipeg for a night or two, you can find a range of accommodations close to the airport.
