  • A fun little ride for the kids if you have the time. This is on my kids top 5 list of things to do in Whitehorse. The little history Museum is also very interesting if you like Yukon history.  more »

  • A visit to this museum is worthwhile in any case! Things from the gold mining days together were held en masse in different rooms. You can get an excellent insight in this wild time. My recommendation!

  • Cute train. Small museum. Train diesel powered. Would have been nice if train driver spoke along the way to explain what we were looking at. Kids loved the train. Museum not completely interactive. But I've been on a huge forest museum in the Cowichan valley Vancouver island so I may have been used to more. Prices were fair. Overall fun experience and would still go again they were running a daycare out of it. Would have been nice if that was separated away because my kids kept trying to play games with the leader and kids and I had no idea if they were allowed but didn't understand why they weren't fully included. But overall the leaders tried. Had a nice eating area and playground for kids. So had it not been raining would have been nicer.
  • Lengthy train ride at extremely slow speed. Attentive engineer.
  • A small sample of Klondike history!

Accommodations in Whitehorse are spread throughout the city center, easy to navigate on foot or by car. If views of the Yukon River are your top priority, you'll have to pay more to enjoy a prime riverside location in one of the hotels along Front Street. For something more budget-friendly, look for an inn or guesthouse a few streets back from the river. To immerse yourself in the wild nature of the Yukon, look outside the city itself to one of the many ranches and bed and breakfasts dotting the surrounding landscape.
