Cypress Mountain, West Vancouver

4.2
#2 of 7 in Outdoors in West Vancouver
Carve up the snow at Cypress Mountain, just a 30 minute drive north of downtown Vancouver and located in the southern part of Cypress Provincial Park. Choose from over 50 named alpine ski runs and 19 km (12 mi) of cross-country trails. Take a snowshoeing tour through the mountains, filled with cedar trees and offering memorable views at every turn. Relax with a meal and drink at one of the restaurants, cafes or bars. When exploring, be careful of steep cliffs, frozen waterfalls, boulders, and tree wells. Hiking to Eagle Bluffs is quite difficult. We did not reached Eagle Bluffs because one of team hiking was tired. There was two black beers close to parking lot in the forest. We went up to Cabin Lake ...  more »

The staff were friendly & helpful. Decent facilities. Food decent. Only considerstion: trimming back the trees so more sun can shine on slide area. Otherwise; can you say FUN times! Ty

Breathtaking views! Loved hiking this mountain. Probably my favourite one I have hiked in Vancouver. Better than Grouse in my opinion. I think Grouse is overrated. Cypress Mountain isn't that hard to hike either, so you can enjoy your way up.

This review is about the cross-country area. I have been there over a dozen times and every time the experience is very positive. Trail grooming is good, staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable. Get there early (before 9:30 on weekends) if you don't want to park too far away. Great views and plenty of trails so even if there are many people it won't feel crowded. The warming hut at the upper power lines area is a nice touch and acts as a social and gathering place for those so inclined, or simply as a marker for those just blazing through. The Nordic Cafe chalet is fine and has all the basics. Areas for improvement could include opening Brothers Canyon East and the trails around there more often, along with more clearly indicating when it is open and when it is not.

I come here like every year and the staff is amazing the food is good (a bit over priced but worth it) the hills are really good for all riders. Organized staff too. Also a very good view and really awesome tarrain parks. really good for experts but also pretty good for beginners and intermediates. I JUST HAVE TOO MUCH FUN

Trade off: pricier and higher elevations than Grouse and Seymour, but a lot more terrain. The terrain parks aren't quite as well designed either. Great spot for night skiing though, and a fun bike ride up to the top too.
