Winery / Vineyard
A chance to travel back in winemaking history, By Chadsey's Cairns Winery and Vineyard occupies a 200-year-old farm settled in 1809. Fruit has been grown on this estate since its founding days--the owners started with apples, cherries, and raspberries before moving on to grapes. The property includes an old cemetery, tasting room, wine store, and barns that overlook Lake Ontario. With mature maples and fragrant lilacs bordering the vineyard, the site is rewarding in a visual sense--you'll be able to enjoy a glass of pinot noir or chardonnay while soaking in the splendid visuals. To extend your visit, consider renting the 5-bedroom farmhouse and using it as your base for venturing farther out into the surrounding landscape. • Beautiful estate, with a nice little porch to sit on and stare at the vines. The Chenin blanc is delicious, and the PTO was our favorite.
  • Unwelcoming. No useful information about the wine. $1 tasting for a smeer of wine and no refund if you buy a case. Not impressed. Perhaps I am used to people who enthuse about wine rather than look depressed
  • Varietals that no one else has in the region. Fantastic!
  • Look forward to seeing
  • Fabulous wines. Even better company.
