  • Visited bug zoo with our kids and was an instant hit for a rather rainy day in Victoria. The staff were very helpful and informative and look forward to returning again next time.  more »
  • Right when we walked into the bug zoo to pay admission I was impressed by how the staff related with my boys ages 10,8,6 and 3. We paid and went into what felt at first like a disapointment as the roo...  more »

  • Went a number of years ago with my girls not really expecting much. Had a fantastic tour and I was brave enough to hold any insect that was offered. My girls were pretty impressed! The ant walls were fascinating and gave us all a below ground idea into what these insects do. Would go again even without my girls!
  • Wow! What a fun experience for our whole family! Both the adults and kids really enjoyed it immensely. The staff here are absolutely top-notch. The guide inside the zoo itself was truly passionate about bugs and super-knowledgeable. Our guide was amazing. Even the front-desk gal was great to deal with. Inside, it's not a huge facility by any means, but very immersive. Good selection of bugs and some great setups. The Leaf-Cutter Ant setup was really cool. There are even a few opportunities to handle some of the bugs with the guide.
  • A fun place to spend an hour or so with kids. I don't know where they find their tour guides, they clearly love all the bugs like they were puppies or something cuter. They outright gush about their favorites. I think they would be the first to admit that. The kids absorb some of that enthusiasm from the guides and seem happy to touch and watch the bugs, even if they normally find bugs gross.
  • I think I had more fun here than my son. We are bug lovers so my review is probably biased. Such cute critters! Loved holding them.
  • Great place for kids and adults as well. Super friendly staff. You get to hold some bugs if you like.

Where to stay in Victoria

The curling waterfront Wharf Street, which becomes Store Street, offers the best selection of lodgings in the city center, although you can expect to pay extra for the trademark views. Many travelers opt to stay in the neighborhood of James Bay, where Belleville Street and surrounds provide comfortable and even luxurious options. For something more relaxed and closer to nature, look south to the expansive Beacon Hill Park.
