The upper floor is a huge used bookstore with rows and rows of hardcovers and paperbacks. I've almost never not found what I was looking for there.  more »

Russell Books isn't just a shop - it's an experience! If you are a book worm or need a gift for someone who is, check out this fabulous local store (which is actually 3 stores in one!). Floor to ceiling, row after row - it's book heaven! The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, prices are more than reasonable. They've got a huge selection of just about everything and are happy to look something up for you. They've even got an antique book section! Honestly, I can spend so much time here. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. I cannot say enough about how amazing this place is!! Check them out!!

Wow amazing selection and cheap prices! They didn't have the book I was looking for but they had a million alternatives. Staff were lovely.

Wonderful old local bookstore. Huge selections of Canadiana, art, philosophy and history. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Not a huge kids' area though

Russell's is the only way I'm able to sustain my love for books. I've found many favorites there. They have a great fiction section, and an even better non-fiction section. I especially love how the stock never gets stale. I find something new and exciting every time. Bonus: great natural section, with lots of plant guides at wonderful prices.

Large selection of new and used books, good store to trade in your used books. You will receive store credit for more books, process is quick, I dropped off 3 boxes and was on my way in 10 minutes.

Where to stay in Victoria

The curling waterfront Wharf Street, which becomes Store Street, offers the best selection of lodgings in the city center, although you can expect to pay extra for the trademark views. Many travelers opt to stay in the neighborhood of James Bay, where Belleville Street and surrounds provide comfortable and even luxurious options. For something more relaxed and closer to nature, look south to the expansive Beacon Hill Park.
