  • A very informative and historical narration by guide. Area of the visit limited, but did see the Chamber, but not allowed inside. The gallery was closed. Great lunch in the restaurant.  more »

  • We took the free tour of the Parliament Buildings and enjoyed it very much. The interior of these magnificent buildings is beautiful, and you can see straight up into the cupola. We got to look into the government chambers, and some historical characters popped up to tell us their stories. The tour was more fun and interesting that I was expecting and I'm glad I took it.
  • This is a beautiful building and a real piece of history for Victoria. There are free tours that one can take of the inside of this building. One can also obtain a pass at security at the front to go to the legislative dining room. It is a pleasant place to have a cup of tea and a cinnamon roll or a meal. Don't forget to walk around the outside of this building to see all of the amazing features including columns, a fountain, and to look up to see all of the amazing materials that went into this grand building.
  • Really enjoyable visit here. We did the self guided tour. You pick up a free guide book and can wander through the public areas at your leisure. Lots of interesting information is provided throughout and you get to see the actual assembly. The politicians were absent during our visit. There is a security check on the way in a I had foolishly brought a backpack with a picnic. I had a butter knife in my pack.I informed the security person before he scanned the bag. This being Canada he scanned the bag his colleague thanked me for letting them know and asked me to ensure that it was not taken out during my visit. I love this country! Sensible people with a friendly outlook on life.
  • I've visited legislatures/parliament buildings in different countries around the world - capitol, WH, Florida Legislature, etc. This one is the worst. It has almost no history to it and the building is extremely unimpressive. The tours are boring. The info brochure has nothing on it either. I was very very disappointed.
  • This is a lovely old building. Looks especially nice at night during Christmas when it is lit up.

Where to stay in Victoria

The curling waterfront Wharf Street, which becomes Store Street, offers the best selection of lodgings in the city center, although you can expect to pay extra for the trademark views. Many travelers opt to stay in the neighborhood of James Bay, where Belleville Street and surrounds provide comfortable and even luxurious options. For something more relaxed and closer to nature, look south to the expansive Beacon Hill Park.
