PNE - Pacific National Exhibition, Vancouver

(2/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Since 1910, the playgrounds of PNE - Pacific National Exhibition have served as a public exhibition and host to many a fair and expo. Opened by Prime Minister Wilfrid Laurier, the grounds are best known for hosting a two week-long fairs every summer, complete with food kiosks, shops, performances, rides, and fireworks. During World War II, the exhibition was used a military training ground as well a prison for Japanese Canadians; a section of the park pays tribute to this darker chapter in Canadian history. In the off-season, the park hosts many concerts and welcomes guests eager to visit the permanent amusement park.
