Commercial Drive, Vancouver
(3.9/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Walk along Commercial Drive to witness the neighborhood's celebration of cultural immersion and ethnic diversity. Explore the road's international array of businesses selling food, beverages, spices, clothing, decor, entertainment, and art. Historically, it took a long time for "The Drive" to recover from the negative effects of the Great Depression. It was only after World War II that business finally started to flourish again, thanks to the influx of immigrants from Europe, East India, Asia, Latin America, and Africa. Nowadays, coffee shops, bakeries, delis, restaurants, and stores liven this diverse, countercultural neighborhood. The growing number of alternative venues, linked to the presence of so many bums and homeless people has prompted many residents to other areas. A road lunghissimaben served the bus 20 and then skytrain. Personally a bit sad. Resist some Italian food shops, also managed here by the Chinese of course.
