Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Categories: Neighborhoods, Tourist Spots
Walk along Commercial Drive to witness the neighborhood's celebration of cultural immersion and ethnic diversity. Explore the road's international array of businesses selling food, beverages, spices, clothing, decor, entertainment, and art. Historically, it took a long time for "The Drive" to recover from the negative effects of the Great Depression. It was only after World War II that business finally started to flourish again, thanks to the influx of immigrants from Europe, East India, Asia, Latin America, and Africa. Nowadays, coffee shops, bakeries, delis, restaurants, and stores liven this diverse, countercultural neighborhood. Commercial Drive is a long stretch of stores, shops, coffee shops, restaurants, etc. of a huge variety. Perfect place to spend a day exploring.
