Canada Place, Vancouver

Stop at Canada Place, the region’s main cruise ship terminal, and watch as crowds of passengers disembark to be met by the frigid Alaskan weather. An important location in the city, the docks house several landmarks, including the Vancouver Convention Centre and Vancouver’s World Trade Centre. Observe the unusual architecture, modeled on a boat sail, or take to the skies on the virtual flight ride, FlyOver Canada. Enjoy a meal cooked by renowned chefs at the complex’s restaurant, or simply take in the wonderful waterfront views, as sea birds soar past and various seafaring vessels come and go. • The five sails of Canada Place is a popular landmark on Downtown Vancouver's waterfront. It's like our own Sydney Opera House, but you know, smaller and less iconic (but it's ours!). Unlike the famed opera house, however, Canada Place is a complex of commerce; home to one of the largest and busiest convention facilities in the city, as well as the most active cruise ship terminals in Canada, the Pan Pacific Hotel is a natural auxiliary establishment at the 999 Canada Place address. Likewise, the offices of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority are located at the very tip of the peninsula, aptly named "The Pointe". Canada Place is also the spot for one of the most festive celebrations of our country's birthday with fireworks over Vancouver Harbour and a Canada-themed light show projected on the sails. The footpath circling Canada Place links to our world-famous Seawall, which is a treat to walk around in and of itself. There is so much to say about Canada Place, my review doesn't do it justice. I'm lucky enough to have worked in the office spaces on the fourth floor and I don't take Canada Place (including its views) for granted!
  • Keeps improving every few years. Fabulous spot to take visiting friends for a Coffee or local beer and watch the sea planes. Great people watching. Good urban cycling area also.(rentals available in the area).
  • Terrific views from this unique looking building. Fly over Canada is located here. This ride is an amazing way to see the many beautiful sights found in Canada. Inside are many displays with historical relevance. Art and flowers can be be seen as you walk around. Cruise ships coming and going.
  • This is a really unique place for the entire family. There are plenty of activities to entertain everyone. There are also plenty of photo ops here. Do not miss the Fly Over Canada ride - a little pricey, but totally worth it. A great place to watch cruise ships dock.
  • Awesome place to visit...the heart of the city of Vancouver....... sit back and enjoy the view of the seaplanes against the backdrop of the majestic Pacific.... Flyover Canada is highly recommended...It provides a virtual tour across the country......was an enthralling experience overall....
