  • Who wants to explore the West Coast and on a (strenuous) hike does want to come at his own expense. The landscape and the degree of difficulty is comparable with the West Coast trail. Access is simple but essential and the costs are much lower. Both trails have their start and end points in port Renfrew. The Juan de Fuca trail is in closer towards Victoria, which makes it more accessible. A bus runs regularly from Victoria to port Renfrew and keep at all places where the Juan de Fuca trail can leave. So anyone who does not want to hike the trail, can go on or get off and take the bus back to Victoria or port Renfrew. For the trail, you need no permit and no fee will be charged. You have to pay only a few dollars for the camp - which is wilderness camping. Tent and food must be brought. At the "camp grounds", there's food caches (ways to hang up his meal at night bear sure) and outhouses (outhouses). Otherwise, there is no comfort. The coastline there is uniquely beautiful / wild Pacific Ocean and rain forest); scenic is the Juan de Fuca trail the West Coast trail in nothing after. Access to the WCT is however much more complicated and much more expensive. The Juan de Fuca trail is therefore also considerably better last minute, he is also slightly shorter and should be to deal with in 4 days. Who 5 days takes time, luck with the weather has and brings with him a bit condition, can have a unique hiking experience. Both trails who can't get enough, can connect with each other.
