I attended the Queen's Plate this year. I was there last year and had a lot of fun. The concerts were excellent, especially Hedley and it was much better organized for food choices. This year the concerts were not as good. The music was okay but the stage presence was to say the least boring. The food choices were underwhelming. And we heard from one food truck vendor that they were told at the last minute that they were not allowed to sell water, only soft drinks. So you had to purchase water from the concessions at a whopping $4.25 a bottle. Do the vendors and the public got gouged.

The venue itself is very well kept and clean. We spent most of our time in the bar called Champions. The food menu was one page. Not too much to choose from. I would give the food itself a 3/5. The atmosphere was good overall we had a good time.

Came for Queens Plate and had a blast! Lots of friendly staff helped me figure out how to bet, and I ended up winning a bit. With bets as low as $1, it was really accessible for a non gambler like me to have a fun time.

Great venue to watch races. Food is ok. Free parking. Beer selection needs work.

Good places to kill a few hours without a huge drain on the wallet (unless you always bet high). Always busy so it's hard to get the machine you want sometimes.

Where to stay in Toronto

Most visitors stay in the historic neighborhood of Old Toronto, as the central district offers unparalleled access to the best attractions in the city and several metro stations within walking distance. If you're looking for a different taste of Toronto, stay in the trendy neighborhoods of West Queen West or King West Village, popular for their nightlife, arts, and cafe scenes. You can embrace Toronto's multicultural charms by staying in Chinatown, perhaps the city's best location for foodies.
