Toronto Islands, Toronto

(4.7/5 based on 5,000+ reviews on the web)
Escape the busy downtown by visiting Toronto Islands, where you can bask on pleasant beaches and explore several historical landmarks. The park's three small islands offer plenty of trails where you can stretch your legs and get some fresh air. Amusement rides ensure suitable entertainment for families with kids, while a lighthouse--the oldest landmark in the city--draws photographers, architecture fans, and history buffs. Other activities include cycling, canoeing, kayaking, and picnicking. Ferries accommodate recreational cyclists, but if you'd rather travel lightly, rent a bike on the main Centre Island. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Toronto Islands and many more Toronto attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Toronto travel itinerary maker.

  • The wait to buy the ticket and waiting to board the boat was long, but the boat ride to the island was very fast and you are treated to a great view of the skyline. (If your time is limited and willing to send a few more dollars per person you can use the water taxi to cross the water without waiting the long lines, the return trip on the boat to Toronto is free, regardless of you took it out there or not.) Toronto Island is a nice oasis from the city with great view looking back into the skyline, so much greens, fun things to do for people of all ages. If you are a tourist like us, Toronto Island is a must stop for half a day. Best advice is walk across the island (10 minutes or less) rent a bike and discover the place without getting tired.
  • I really want to give the islands 5 stars because we really do enjoy our days here. I love the fact that it is a getaway in the city but from the ferries to the structures on the island, it's looking a bit shabby and run down. The views are always fabulous. Just walking there is nice. I wish they would update these ferries since they by and large seem to be a tragedy waiting to happen.
  • We arrived by ferry with our bikes and explored the beautiful parks, forests and beach settings. What an amazing place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city! Great place for a small bike tour with children.
  • We decided to travel to the island instead of going up the CN tower and would recommend a visit. Once on the island it is hard to believe you are in Toronto as it is beautiful parkland with lots to do and see.
  • Have been going here as a child. Many memories and amazing sight line of the city. Nice area for picnics and exploring by bicycles. Be warned though, if you are taking the city ferry buy your ticket online you can walk right past the ticket booth to the ferry lines saving you some time.
