  • I've been on site a Saturday in September. There was still sunlight in Toronto. I wanted to see the theater, but was closed to visitors. I was able to visit the Conservatory only: see the classrooms, musicians and students training and visit the small collection of ancient instruments available there. But, for those who have extra time, you can buy tickets for concerts and recitals. There was no available at the time of my visit, but I still have interest in back there.

  • Even if you can only pay for the cheapest tickets, you'll perfectly see and listen to the show, the place is very nice!  more »
  • In April of 2017 we ventured off to see and hear the talents of Rosanne Cash at2vthe Royal conservatory in Toronto. The concert was stellar as Ms. Cash has a beautiful voice. The building and the desi...  more »

  • 1,000 seat Auditorium rises with wrap-around tiered seating (some seats are actually above & behind the stage performers! Light woodwork motif makes you feel like you're inside the hollows of a gigantic guitar!!
  • Royal Conservatory publishing now puts the prices on their books up whenever they can. Cutting sales discount margins on the local music stores.... then aggressively selling books directly to students. My local music store has been selling RCM books for 40 years and now with my teacher discount it's not worth him stocking Royal Conservatory. RCM is pushing out the little family stores that have supported their books for decades. There are tons of great repertoire books that are far more affordable to the average family folks. Disgusted by these new practices and greed. Frederick Harris is NOT a not-for-profit organization don't be fooled. Myself and many peers will not be using RCM as there are many equally good programs out there. You can get a great music education without Royal Conservatory. Support your local print music retailer they are dropping like flies.
  • Attended an event in February and it was such a great time. Staff was all smiles and hospitable!
  • Very elegant and well-maintained building, beautiful architectural elements provide wonderful atmosphere, very professional space
  • Be careful. Not only did they botch the dates I wanted for my son's exam, they booked him for the wrong instrument and kept calling him the wrong name in correspondence. With 3 weeks notice they told me they could not accommodate my preferred dates. Even with the faults being on their part they refused to provide even a partial refund for my exam fees. I am so disgusted by this organization I have pulled my children from classical music lessons and moved them to other activities.

Where to stay in Toronto

Most visitors stay in the historic neighborhood of Old Toronto, as the central district offers unparalleled access to the best attractions in the city and several metro stations within walking distance. If you're looking for a different taste of Toronto, stay in the trendy neighborhoods of West Queen West or King West Village, popular for their nightlife, arts, and cafe scenes. You can embrace Toronto's multicultural charms by staying in Chinatown, perhaps the city's best location for foodies.
