The Grotto, Tobermory
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Gaze upon the turquoise waters of The Grotto, a secluded sea cave carved out of the rocky cliffs over thousands of years. A short hike is required to reach the grotto--those with a fear of heights should take caution, as you'll need to climb down a 12 m (40 ft) natural rock chimney to access it. From above, enjoy the views of the rocky cliffs and the ocean beyond, while sunlight from outside reveals a brilliant underwater tunnel. You can snorkel in the pristine setting, and use the opportunity to capture some brilliant photographs. The Grotto is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Tobermory Edition.

This place is absolutely breathtaking. There are a variety of trails you can hike down before you hike down to the grotto which is nice. The grotto it's self is stunning, with crystal clear waters and... read more »
The best part in tobermory. Parking/park fee is about $10 for 24hours. Most of tourists come here in the summer time. The weather is very nice and not cold at all this thanksgiving weekend.
Would highly recommend! May not be suitable for young children because of the heights and the water. But it is highly accessible, the trail would be suitable for strollers, wheelchairs and anyone who ... read more »
Beautiful place with spectacular caves and rock formations. Be prepared for some hiking to get to and explore the place. The water is crystal clear but freezing cold I could only dip my feet for a few seconds. That said, there were a few brave souls jumping into the water from a cliff. Expect a swarm of flies that give a stinging bite and for which insect repellents do not work. The only way to not get bitten is to cover up.
Absolutely stunning location. One one side beautiful rock shelf beach and a careful climb down on the other side and there is a very beautiful cave with swimming hole.
A beautiful place to visit. I highly recommended going. Just go early as the parking lot fills up quick. It's an easy hike in mostly on flat surfaces. I've seen people go with wheelchairs and strollers. But there climb to the grotto is not accessible. People park their strollers and carry the children in.

Loved it, it was cool you could squeeze in the little cave and come out the other side :)
