Flowerpot Island Lighthouse, Tobermory
(4.1/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Following a tough hike across the island, you'll be rewarded with the sight of Flowerpot Island Lighthouse, which sits on a rock platform just by the water’s edge. The cone-shaped lighthouse stands at roughly 30 m (98 ft) tall and features an almost all-white exterior, with the windows and railings painted in red. Take a seat on one of the benches found right beside the lighthouse and admire the view over Georgian Bay. If you’re brave enough, dip into the water, which is quite cold. Speak to volunteers who maintain the lighthouse to learn about its history, as well as that of the island. Make Flowerpot Island Lighthouse part of your personalized Tobermory itinerary using our Tobermory tourist route planner.

  • Definitely worth the hike to it. It does not take long to get there but it is a cool experience. Lots of history around it and more then just the lighthouse in the area to see. You can also swim there...  more »
  • It was a disappointment after the long hike up the path to the lighthouse. It was not even a lighthouse it was a light atop a tower and the tower couldn't even be seen. The platform faced the water. N...  more »

  • Great spot to stop and see the view
  • Tobermory is such a magical place. We go every year, and stop at the lighthouse for a swim in the crystal clear waters. The sad thing though is that the water levels are going down so much in Georgian Bay.
