We went to the water slides and had an awesome day the staff was a lot of fun and helpful. One of the hot tubs was shut down and the best time to go is between 4 and 6 as there are less people in the ... read more »
We didn't go on water slides but we drove by them. Was on them 20 years ago and back then the metal on the slides were rusting. I can imagine what it looks like now but I hear it's closing down next w... read more »

Lots of fun slides. Long lineups are frustrating. I dont like the number of cobwebs. Sad to hear it is closing down.
We found the park to be a lot of fun for our family. (but) Expect it to be busy. Kids don't mind line ups as much as adults do (I'm guessing). Finding a spot to sit and sprawl out might be hard. If you want to tan and munch on your picnic lunch... walk a few blocks to the beach :) There's nothing more annoying than no where to sit, but all the spots that are occupied are just empty towels because people (think they) need to lay out all their gear like it's a campsite or something. One towel takes up the space of what would be 2 chairs and multiply that by the family size. If this type of park was ever reborn in central Alberta, the owners should buy a much larger piece of land and consider the green space to be as valuable to the customers as the slides. Like offer next door camping or trees for shade and more resting space for people to go in between rides. We went to Silverwood Theme Park in Idaho the park was immaculate, the staff really was friendly (like abnormally nice) but that was great, but you could see they picked their staff carefully and took special care to clean up the facilities constantly. Wild Rapids was fun, but the cost is way over the top. In Blackfalds, there is a outdoor heated salt water pool with slides, diving board, climbing wall, and tot play centre, also a concession, etc for a family it's $19.50/day CDN. It also has an indoor play centre, and outside playground and outdoor workout equipment - it's called the Abbey Centre. I know the slides aren't comparable, but for fun and affordability, it's GREAT.
I was very excited,to take my family to the waterpark, before the park closed for good..It was hot and the line ups were crazy, but very happy to be there..On our last ride, with the mat,on my belly, everything went wrong..At the bottom of the waterslide,my head went into the board..When I put my finger to the area hit,my finger went inside my skin..My skull/bone exposed.. I was taken to the hospital with 2 inner stitches,6 outer stitches. They continued to allow out riders to come down, with the entire water filled with my blood.. The nurse/lifeguard was the best.. She kept me calm and gave me great care to get me to the hospital.. I'm so lucky I didn't break my neck.People be extra careful at this park..
It's too bad this is the past year for Wild Rapids. It's usually quite busy and therefore the lines are quite long, but it's still fun. I do wish there was a pool at the location as well though. So if you haven't been, I suggest you make the time to go soon before they close for good.
A total rip-off. 140$ for a family of four, plus 15$ for dirt parking lot... You'd expect a lot of fun in return for the hard earned buck, but.. what you get is a crapy small space surrounded by ugly, labor camp style barbwired fence, run down moldy and rusty slides, lawn infested with ants, very few picknic tables with no chance to get one, no shade space whatsoever... And to that unfriendly staff, overpriced food and drinks (they wouldn't let your own food and even drinks inside!), very dirty changing rooms to complement the experience. And the experience is... well.. you feel like being RIPPED OFF. There is a reason why they put a big sign at the ticket window saying "NO REFUNDS". Perhaps, the reason is that many people had asked for one. Kids are going to enjoy it anyways, of course, but one can have way more fun with kids in other water parks for a fraction of price. My first and the last time here. Period.
