West Coast Railway Heritage Park, Squamish

3.9
Railway enthusiasts should not miss West Coast Railway Heritage Park, a museum with the second-largest collection of train memorabilia and artifacts. Dedicated to collecting, preserving, and displaying historical railway parts, the institution engages visitors of all ages. Younger members of the family can let their imaginations run wild in the large play area upstairs, as well as on a mini rail located outside. Pay special attention to the rare Royal Hudson #2860 steam locomotive, acquired in 2006. Find out how to plan Squamish trip without stress by asking Inspirock to help create an itinerary.

  • I had heard about this polar express and booked it through a bus tour. I was excited to go and put my Pajamas on and headed out. I got my golden ticket. I boarded the train and off we went. I thought ...  more »
  • A terrific concept that falls flat on its face. The train ride just goes back and forth several times on the same small stretch of track and ends up back where you started....So you get to see the sam...  more »

  • I got to experience the Polar express ride, it was amazing. I was blown away by the train experience that was made special by the cast. They made it feel very real like your in the movie. There was village and it looked great. It was good fun we got to make ginger bread men, meet Santa, seeing the train engine and learning great history of the railways. I felt that the gift shop was over priced, but the tickets for the train were great price. Its nice that's is affordable and great fun for the family.
  • Polor express train ride we go on every year! Its a yearly tradition for me and my family! Buy tickets early. They sell out fast! The xmas village is awesome after and the movie characters on the train are amazing actors
  • Went there on a school field trip, staff were incredibly kind and nice, I have never seen so much passion and knowledge in people in my life. We all had a great time and the tours were marvelous.
  • The Polar Express is manned almost entirely by volunteers and is a fundraiser for the museum. If you are expecting to go for a long train ride to somewhere, you will be disappointed. The train travels at 15kph maximum, stays on tracks owned by them and only travels a few kilometers south. There is a conductor who will lead a Carol sing in the return portion of the trip. There are waiters/waitresses who serve cookies and then warm chocolate while Hot Chocolate plays. There is a hobo and there are 4 children who run from car to car but that is pretty much it. They all do a great job and if you are realistic in your expectations and join in the fun, you will enjoy it. There are a few activities in the buildings including a miniature train and Santa but the lineups are long and small children may become impatient. It is not a stellar experience for a child under about 3 years old but 3 to 8 year olds will enjoy most everything.
  • Went here for polar express. Actual train ride was a dissapointment. Train went nowhere very slowly. Selection of train cars and memorabilia was decent.
