Specialty Museum Museum
Step back in time and see what Nova Scotia was like in the 19th and early 20th centuries at Sherbrooke Village. The village depicts the region in the time spanning the 1860s to just before World War I. Take a relaxed amble through the village’s 80 buildings, where you'll encounter various people in the costumes of the time going about their daily business. A blacksmith, woodburner shop, printery, and pottery shop are among the places that combine to give the impression of authentic industry-boom Nova Scotia town of the 19th and 20th centuries. Watch for a kiosk where you can get a photo of yourself with an old-style camera. • A living museum well worth leaving the major highways to discover for yourself. Lots of great people to interpret the exhibits. Completely reasonable rates or get the NS Museum Pass. Lots of walking on the dirt streets or take the wagon ride around. So many things to see it's easy to spend a day. Not a theme park with rides and games everywhere. It's a 19th C town.
  • Great experience for parents and kids alike. Hands on experiences, tasty treats from the town jail and fun activities for kids. Staff were wonderful and knowledgable. The folk singing on the hotel steps was lovely. Plan on spending a full day if possible.
  • Best time ever I went there on a school field trip and we did the hands on history program and we got to dress up and act like we were from the 1800's I wish I could work there every day just because it was so fun, we really got our hands on history when we made beanbags, hammer, twisted steal rods, and pottery. The best part was dressing up and going to school, I recommend this as a end of the school year field trip to ALL teachers!! πŸ€—πŸ˜„πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’πŸΌ
  • Great visit to the museum, I have been wanting to visit for many years now. Staff are excellent at what they do and are very friendly. Plan to come back in the future to spend a longer day there.
  • Very nice historic village with knowledgeable staff. Working pottery, blacksmith, woodworker, weaver, and print press. They sell all the items they make at the store in the parking enterance. Also learned about making soaps, candles, and a moisturizer.
