Learn about one of the First Nations of Canada as you visit Wanuskewin Heritage Park, home to over 6,000 years of history. Archaeological findings on the site point towards six millennia of settlement by the Northern Plains peoples. Head inside the steel-and-glass museum to view traditional art pieces, taxidermied bisons, and many exhibits teaching you about the prehistoric culture of the land. Outside, explore the park's many trails, which have different difficulty ratings and place you in a natural setting. Onsite tipis give you the option of overnight accommodations. Wanuskewin has wonderful art exhibits, cultural information and performances, a great cafe (fry bread, bannock!) as well as archeological sites that are open for public viewing. I however like to go just to walk the trails and be outside there. It's truly magical.

Really nice trails, good food in the restaurant. A bit pricey if they don't have any events going, but still a very good time.

It was absolutely beautiful trails. There was nothing to see inside which was disappointing so to pay $10 to walk on trails was kind of ridiculous...

Where to stay in Saskatoon

The west bank of the South Saskatchewan River serves as the most popular place to stay in Saskatoon. Along the curving riverside route of Spadina Crescent, you can choose from a selection of mid-range to luxury hotels, most of which offer swimming pools to accompany their river views. The two main thoroughfares out of town--Route 14 to the west and Route 11 to the north--offer an abundance of standard motels and inns, with accommodations in the north also ensuring proximity to the city's airport.
