Head to Mount Maxwell Provincial Park, known for its marvellous viewpoint on the top of a towering cliff face. The viewpoint--called Baynes Peak--rewards visitors with memorable views of Vancouver Island, the nearby Gulf Islands, and mainland British Columbia. Hike through a dense forest landscape filled with old growth Douglas firs and Garry oak meadows. Bring some food and have a picnic by the creek while raptor birds soar overhead. Note that when taking a car to the peak, the roads contain many potholes. Don’t forget to bring your camera. • This is a wonderful option for hiking with vistas, forests and uncrowded trails.Park on the way, or at the top. There are many well marked options. Enjoy the trip.

  • Great drive up, you can then take the paths walk around. Beautiful view of the islands and on a sunny day you can see very far! It's a must!
  • If you like to drive to the top this is for you. I'm more into hiking to the top ( I'm sure there are trails to do so if you know the area). Real nice views good place to take the family. Just keep the kids need critters away from some of the edges.
  • There are two ways to get to the top. One, drive up a off-road rocky road that can get narrow at certain sections. No need for a 4x4, I drove up in a front wheel drive sedan. Second, hike up. The hike is beautiful and is medium difficulty. Some sections are steep, but totally safe and beautiful views. I'd recommend the hike if you have the time. The visitors center can guide you to the start of the hike. The views are absolutely beautiful and totally worth the effort.
  • Mt. Maxwell has stunning views of the gulf islands and a beautiful trail for the active traveler. Nice benches to take in the view from, restful for seniors.
  • Trails are great. Views are once at the top we spectacular. You can see the main island.
  • Great Park a bit sketchy roads on the way up but Amazing views
