Saint John City Market, Saint John
(4.1/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Visit the oldest continuously operating farmers market in Canada at Saint John City Market. The market's first charter dates back to 1785, and the site continues to thrive today with loyal farmers and customers. The building itself is said to have been built by unemployed sailors and is in the Second Empire style of architecture. Farmers, butchers, and fish merchants all have stalls throughout the market; look for tasty local snack foods and drinks as you shop. Put Saint John City Market and other Saint John attractions into our Saint John travel itinerary maker, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • One of the most amazing places to visit. This market actually hosts about 50-60 small businesses from around the Saint John area. You can find just about anything you want or need, including some majo...  more »
  • Everything from typical tourist souvenirs to handmade artisan goods here. Big variety of food, also. Something for everyone. Be sure to go during the day. It closes fairly early.
  • Almost Every time my wife and I go to the city, we try to make time to stop in to the market. Crafts, food, coffee and conversation. What's not to like? You can browse at your own speed up the tight a...  more »

  • Love the market here. Good vibes, good food, lots of variety like every market should be. Great hours too unlike many other city markets!
  • A must visit in Saint John. This place has some amazing history. It's mostly full of food and gifts and such but is a must see. The roof looks like an upside down boat hull from the inside and the decor at Christmas is breath taking!
  • I visited the Saint John City Market last year around the end of November and loved seeing all of the Christmas decor in the market. it still has the old feel of the original, but with modern restaurants and vendors. Definitely worth checking out!
  • One of the best places in the city, well worth the visit. Great selection of stores and some of the best food in the city. A must visit if you are in town.
  • Kim's Korean food is incredible and the schwarma hut is fantastic. It's all locally owned and operated small businesses. It's the greatest part of Saint John
