  • I've always loved zoos and, maybe not regularly, but quite often, visited the zoo of St-Félicien with children. Then, we're going to Falardeau and we got a shock! First, it's much, much cheaper. Second, you feel in nature because we are. Thirdly, the animals are in enclosures adapted to their conditions and which are designed to look as much as possible to their natural habitat. Animals are active and act naturally. While my daughter was playing not far from the bullpen, a puma tried to hunt. Of course my daughter was perfectly safe with two enclosures between her and the animal, but this isn't the kind of thing you see in all the zoos where the animals eventually not to move and wait for the meal with the energy of a halibut died three weeks . Actually, to the Zoo of Falardeau, we have more often the impression that the animals are free and visitors in a cage! The guides know the history of all animals and are very efficient. And being able to talk with the owners gives an impression of particular involvement. There seems to be at either. I recommend it to all! P.S. remember to bring a little something to wash your hands, especially before eating, children they will hit wild animals plenty! N.B. You can bring a lunch and eat on-site, in the trails without problem. Attention to pick up your garbage for the good be pets please.

  • It me appears necessary to tell you about my last experience at the zoo of Falardeau... I'm a fan of animals, and the first time that I set foot in this refuge I fall in love with this zoo. We could interact with the Tiger Cubs, take them in our arms, play with them, walk them on a leash in the snow, and even feed them... Then I went back a second time, this time I could hug a white lion (white snow) but this time the staff was really rude to the public, unfriendly to say the irritating... I told myself that I no y would not return. But the love for animals has had reason to me I went back a third time telling me that the staff would perhaps be more the same, but I had still been greatly disappointed by the attitude of the staff. Then in early February I see their ad on facebook with their Cougar and their lynx into a nursery, and I take a chance, I write to them.. .This is their response: currently, we have two cute Tiger Cubs that you can manipulate in the nursery as well as Kitty the Kangaroo, Kovu the cougar paw white lynx and a few others. It is difficult to predict in advance who will be present for your visit because it depends on the babies themselves. You can call us at 418-673-4602 just before your visit to find out. We will be more than happy to welcome you for a 4th time! ❤ So I bothered to call, and I talk with the wife of Mr. Gagnon owner who assures me that it will be possible to interact with everyone into a nursery, so I figure it was worth the 7 hour drive! Visited the site, I realize at first that the building which he named the nursery has change places! Then go there... all babies in barred cages that is reminiscent of a prison than a nursery and the only animal I could handle was the kangaroo... I ask out a baby tiger in his cage to pet him, but the girl did not want... Finally it comes out one, put it on a table, then I just to play with, she dryly wants back me telling me the exact spot that I could pet him while she e Bush with his leash for not moving his head. I was shocked not to say anything else... I mentioned the first time, I'd take a tiger of this age in my arms and that Mr Gagnon said that if everyone was like me he could handle the Tiger a lot more fearless a long time! and his response was: Yes with Daniel people can do what they want, he doesn't know what he's doing, we can't let that happen! Then I could never see the lynx or the Cougar because they hide in their cage! So you be the judge if I have the right to be angry with the fact that I was lied to two times (even by the owner's wife) before making all these thousands of kilometres and if I got ideas on staff! Do not be fooled with their false advertising and the beautiful photos they add to their site... probably that people on these recent photos are not people of the public, but most likely knowledge! Now you do what you want with this information... Me I don't ever put the feet here...

  • The zoo is great and the enclosures are quite large... much larger than any other zoos we’ve been before. I love the way the zoo was created... essentially giving a second life to animals that would o...  more »
