Kingsbrae Garden Plant Centre, Saint Andrews

(4.4/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
Situated on a hill overlooking a bay, Kingsbrae Garden Plant Centre features more than 50,000 perennials, including the Wollemi pine tree "Pericles"--Canada's first "Jurassic living fossil." Alpacas, peacocks, and pygmy goats roam through its many themed gardens, which are crossed by streams and dotted with ponds. Choose from among the ornamental grass garden, gravel garden, rose garden, bird and butterfly garden, as well as a special "Scents and Sensitivity Garden," designed for the visually impaired. Find your way through the cedar maze, see a working Dutch windmill, or walk a trail through rare old-growth forest. Play croquet or bocce ball on the lawn or have a fresh-from-the-garden lunch at the cafe. Other attractions include numerous sculptures and a Children's Fantasy Garden, which is open seasonally. • Can spend hours here looking through the wonderful gardens, checking out the sculptures and visiting the animals. Great place to bring the family.
  • A pretty garden but I'm not sure that it lives up to the marketing hype. To be fair we visited in the fall so the gardens were not at they're peak. I've visited many many gardens and was "slightly" disappointed by this one. That said ... if you find yourself in St. Andrews (magical), check out the garden. It's reasonably priced and the staff are "Maritime" friendly.
  • Lovely gardens and easy foot paths for older people, very charming tea house offers nice lunches, desserts, tea and coffee.
  • This is a MUST see for anyone going to St Andrews by the sea. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous and so will laid out. Would go back in a heartbeat!
  • Very memorable, beautiful and tranquil garden.
