The historic Steveston Heritage Fishing Village was once nicknamed "Salmonopolis" for its 45 canneries and huge salmon production. Now, it's a beautiful and picturesque old town, in which one can explore shops peddling an array of goods, from handcrafted trinkets by local artists to fresh produce at the local farmer's market. If you fancy absorbing the rich history of the township, there are plenty of sights to see, including one of the remaining canneries, the shipyard, and the museum. As well all this, you can try a huge range of recreational activities, from bicycle rental to whale-watching out on the open ocean. With our world travel planner, Richmond attractions like Steveston Heritage Fishing Village can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

A true ocean side experience with a lot of restaurants and tourist shops. A few quaint seaside streets with independent stores adds a lot of character to this area. The museum has an entry fee so we declined - looked a little spooky at the entrance way.

Very clean and tourist friendly. There's a fish market where you can buy shrimps and other things that are only caught on Canadian waters. After you're done shopping, walk to the Garry Point Park where you'll see other people flying kites and just relaxing over the warm weather of Steveston.

Gorgeous scenery in spring with cherry blossoms and grassland. Definitely a hotspot for photographers. Biking and kiting are perfect in Garry Point Park. Peaceful walk along the water is super relaxing. Parking could be challenging during weekends and holidays. Will go back during the summer and try some fresh seafood.

This is an absolute must-visit for tourists to Vancouver and more specifically to Steveston. Heck, even when I was a local growing up in Lower Mainland, I loved coming here. The fresh ocean air combined with the small town charm of the place makes for a nice day trip. Come here to walk around, have some fibs and chips, and take in the fish market. It will leave you with a sense of wonder and happiness that such a place is preserved among the crazy development that is Greater Vancouver.

Cool little area near Richmond/Vancouver a lot of little shops and restaurants all in the area all walking distance. There was plenty of paid parking available close by. Nice area to walk around or grab some lunch on a nice day or day trip to get away from the city. A lot of nice restaurants nearby to chose from, a cool local vibe here. Worth checking out if you are in the area.
