Minoru Park is a park located on the site of a former horse-racing track and airstrip in Richmond, British Columbia. The Minoru Park's running track is often used for school competitions, such as track and field. The area is home to the Minoru Arenas, Minoru Track, Minoru Aquatic Centre and Richmond Cultural Centre (which in turn houses the Richmond Public Library's main branch, City of Richmond Archives, Richmond Art Gallery and Richmond Museum). All these facilities account for the bulk of community services offered by the city.Minoru was one of the first major aviation hubs in Western Canada.HistoryNamed after King Edward VII's Epsom Derby-winning Irish thoroughbred racehorse, Minoru, the area started out as a horse-racing track on August 21, 1909, to an audience of 7,000. (Minoru never raced in Richmond, however.)Almost one year later, on March 25, 1910, the first-ever Canadian airplane flight west of Winnipeg took off from Minoru Racetrack, with 3,500 witnesses on hand. The plane was manned by Charles K. Hamilton; he flew it from Minoru to New Westminster and back. This event is often credited for the Vancouver International Airport being located in Richmond rather than another municipality in Metro Vancouver. To visit Minoru Park and other attractions in Richmond, use our Richmond holiday planner.

Very charming little park near Richmond Public Library. The landscape is beautiful, especially the giant willow trees along the lake bank. There is a small island in the middle of the lake where hundreds of ducks come to nest in the spring. There are surprisingly a lot of wild life in the park. The lake is filed with giant carps (?), turtles, ducks, and Canada geese. There are tons of rabbits hopping around everywhere and owls and hawks that feed on the rabbits. I also spotted bats once in the park. It's such a cool place.
We are here for High Performance Soccer combine at the turf fields are great. We have not had any issue finding parking this week. The only drawback is no changing or bathroom facilities for the athletes to use.
Nice Park to go to at any month of the year. Went during autumn and winter. Lovely and peaceful and Chapel although small but cute.
The lake is not too bad with some ducks and gooses chilling but all green around is not very well maintained. It's not super clean too and all these ugly residential buildings surrounding the park are not cool.
This is such a great park for families with small children or elderly. It's beautiful and has lots of parking and paved trails. There are lots of wildlife here too. There is also a small chapel. I would not come here (or any other park) at night but that's just common sense for safety reasons. Otherwise, lots of joggers, lawn bowlers, walkers, etc. during the day.
