A small museum which is well suited for inclement weather. Is interesting to see the history of the railway. Have seen yet more beautiful and better train museums.

We visited here with our daughter, son-in-law and grandson, and we were all of the same opinion - that it's a beautifully presented collection and wonderfully informative, with 'hands on' aspects that...  more »

I don't know that I would call this a "must stop", unless you are a train geek, but it is well done and makes an enjoyable stop if you are looking to round out your day after other hiking or sightseei...  more »

Great place to visit with a family. Have some interesting displays and trains. Enough displays and info to be interesting, mostly focusing on the completion of the railway in the West. Kids loved the train simulator (it's an additional $2).

Awesome museum. Very interesting history of the CPR (how it was built, coping with extreme weather, etc.), model trains and real trains. There is also a movie about Revelstoke and the railway mid last century.

Decent railway museum. Worth a visit if you like trains, or want to learn about local history. Revelstoke is a railroad town.

'Must visit' for a railway fun! Reserve the whole day for it, it has a lot to see.

I did not expect to be so entertained by trains. We came here to give my two young sons a break on the long drive between Calgary and Vancouver. It was so much fun for them to run around, climbing in and out of the trains. Two trains are indoors, quite a few more outside. There is an excellent play area for kids with puzzles, games, dress up, coloring sheets, and a wooden train table. The signs are informative, telling interesting and emotional stories about the men who worked on the railroads. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Where to stay in Revelstoke

Revelstoke's position on the Columbia River endows it with scenic vistas, and most of the accommodations in town take advantage of this by offering waterfront views. Stay at one of the many bed and breakfasts, inns, hotels, or lodges on the east side of the river to make the most of the scenery. If you visit Revelstoke to ski--between November and April--stay south of the town center, in a ski chalet at the foot of Revelstoke Mountain. There, you'll be perfectly placed to catch a gondola up the mountain and shred down its slopes.
