  • This train museum has a lot of great railroading history, shown with interesting artifacts, and nicely restored rolling stock inside the absolutely beautiful building. There are fun hands on displays ...  more »
  • We would have visited anyway but it was a pleasure to have an inside attraction (for the most part) when the smoke outside was so unpleasant. This small museum is an absolute treasure. It is so well p...  more »
  • A lot of history with a passenger carriage what a good impression how people used to the Rockies. A well-preserved steam locomotive is next to it. For the kids there is a locomotive simulator that for a 2 dollar coin works. Stand outside next to a large dieselloc two tremendous snow sliders. The building is clearly visible and is located on the edge of the cozy town of Revelstoke. There are regular long freight trains pass daily.

  • This place is wonderful and fascinating! The trains on diaplay are beautifully maintained, and if a voulenteer is in, you can go into the engine and see what it was like to operate a steam engine!!
  • TRAINS 🚂 🚊 I LOVE TRAINS!!!!! And there’s trains that drive right beside here like every 15 minuets!!!! It’s awesome! Also a great history lesson for children of all ages! (Or children at heart like me!)
  • We drove from Lake Louise just to visit the museum. We encoutered passenger and container trains many times just outside the museum. The displays are appealing and informative. We got many train-related products, books and DVDs. We were also given specific directions to get to the Last Spike. Totally worth it!!!
  • Self guided tour. An amazing amount of history packed into the building - with lots to read and lots of art to look at upstairs as well. It's interesting to have historical trains set up for visitors to go inside and look. A very reasonable price as well, $10 for several hours worth of material if you're interested.
  • It was informative and had a lot of signs to read. But it was a self guided tour, and the experience may have been better with someone in the museum guiding you through some of the bigger exhibits. A few things were taped off and there wasn't very much interactiveness, just a lot of signs. I learned a lot and enjoyed myself. But the experience could be made so much better.

Where to stay in Revelstoke

Revelstoke's position on the Columbia River endows it with scenic vistas, and most of the accommodations in town take advantage of this by offering waterfront views. Stay at one of the many bed and breakfasts, inns, hotels, or lodges on the east side of the river to make the most of the scenery. If you visit Revelstoke to ski--between November and April--stay south of the town center, in a ski chalet at the foot of Revelstoke Mountain. There, you'll be perfectly placed to catch a gondola up the mountain and shred down its slopes.
