Regina Floral Conservatory, Regina

4.5
#2 of 6 in Parks in Regina
Bursting with tropical plants, exotic trees, and brilliant blooms September through June, the Conservatory extends a warm welcome to visitors. Floral displays change regularly and feature seasonal offerings set in the tranquility of lush greenery, the therapeutic scent of moist air and the soothing sounds of a gentle waterfall.

The facility was established by the City of Regina during the 1950s as a cluster of three greenhouses to grow plant material to beautify the city. A portion of this operation was later opened to the public so that the people of Regina could enjoy an indoor greenspace.

In 1991, a volunteer organization called the Regina Garden Associates (RGA) was formed to operate a small gift shop at the entrance to the public floral display. In 1999 the City of Regina formed a partnership with the RGA to maintain a 315 square metre greenhouse display, oversee special events and run the gift shop. In 2002 the greenhouse officially became known as the Regina Floral Conservatory.

  • We visited here as had never been at Christmas. It’s just one building so was a quick walk thru. It’s entry by donation so whatever you want to give. I was expecting a bit more decorations but I guess...  more »

  • I love going here in the winter months as it gives you an escape from the cold and snow. Great for elderly people. The volunteers at the front desk are exceptional.  more »

  • This place is ran by volunteers and donations. You feel happier when you are in there, all the different smells and the calmness of the place. Not enough people know about it.
  • Really nice place. Plenty of different species of flowers and trees. Every couple months they have tea on a Sunday. Great place to enjoy something you don't see everyday.

Where to stay in Regina

For convenience, there's no better area to stay than the downtown, between the central station and Wascana Lake. If proximity to the station is important to you, stay north at one of the chain hotels along Saskatchewan Drive. If you'd rather be surrounded by greenery, look south to the more low-key accommodations along College Avenue, which backs onto the large park bordering the lake. Victoria Avenue offers a good selection of hotels in the center, as well as a large cluster of inns and motels as you head east toward the city limits.
