Upper Town (Haute-Ville), Quebec City
(4.8/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
Tour the sights of Upper Town (Haute-Ville), a hilly district with a European feel to it. Growing out of a fort built in the early 17th century, the development of the area has been slow and steady, thanks to the military presence and fortifications. You'll see the positive impact that influence has had on the area, with its pleasant 19th century architecture, masses of parks and open spaces, and thriving local businesses. Take a stroll through the walkable neighborhood, admiring the views it offers of the city below. • The upper part of Quebec City can be divided into two parts: one that precedes the low area and the one that is farther away. The first consists of buildings of some architectural surveys but mainly of bars/restaurants/shops; the second is less crowded and more intimate, with facades no less compelling than those of the lower town. This second part, which essentially starts from the city walls and arrives at the Fairmont, is one that I liked most in the entire city. I would say that is the real Quebec City.
