  • Installed in the choir of the Saint-Roch district, the Saint-Roch Church module life of the population since the beginning of the nineteenth century. The current church was built between 1914 and 1920 in the medieval style (combining elements of Gothic and Romanesque art). Three other churches preceded it on the same site which two destroyed by fires. It is the largest church in Quebec City. A visit because it discovers a very original inner structure with a wide nave with three ships from many forums (back on two levels, above each of the short arms of the transept as well as above the apse of the choir), all to accommodate up to 1250 people. In addition to its architecture remarkable, there are several treasures of religious Quebec art including paintings of Jacques Blanchard (17th s.), Collin de Vermont (18th s.) and Antoine Plamondon (19th c.), the altarpiece of the baptismal font attributed to the sculptor winner Vallière (17th c.), the pulpit sculpted by Elzéar Filion, white oak furniture, stained glass windows and a magnificent organ of tribune of Casavant 4 brand keyboards and 85 games , that in fact the biggest achieved in eastern Quebec. Not surprising that this church and its square is today a major site of diffusion of the artistic and musical culture in Quebec City.

  • And say that a few years ago, the neighborhood in which is located the Church was unseemly and smelly. But today, it is a paradise!

  • This church located in the same neighborhood is impressive, if style is reminiscent of the one in Paris. Inside it is very striking, its excellent stained glass windows, their images, and very good altars. On the outside it is surrounded by bars
