Notre-Dame de Québec, Quebec City
(4.6/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Admire Notre-Dame de Québec, a National Historic Site and the seat of the oldest Catholic archdiocese north of Florida. Twice destroyed by fire, the Neoclassical building has stood in the same spot since 1647. Observe the simple exterior and step inside to see the ornate Baroque decor, including gold leaf, an array of paintings, and colonial-era relics. Take a guided tour of the basilica and the vast crypt, where numerous archbishops and cardinals were laid to rest. • Recommended travelers to visit the night before 10 am, this way you can appreciate their impressive lighting. Its interior is majestic and is undoubtedly a magical infrastructure.

  • Gorgeous place. Well worth the time and close to the Montgomery falls, so can do both at the same time

  • Can't believe it's been three years since our trip to Canada, one of great location with delightful memories, just find this photo wanted to share with people who plan to visit Montreal. Outstanding Architecture just like rest of downtown.
  • Very beautiful location even if you aren't religious. You can go and get coins and light candles. There are lots of rooms with information about the church and huge gold figures. The stain glass is breath taking and it is a by donation exploration.
  • Although unpretentious from the outside, and a little mixed up architecturally, walking through the front doors into the church is a lifetime experience. Breathtakingly beautiful space with opulent gold adornments. Not to be missed. Also for the faithful the only Holy Door in North America is located here and will be open the entire year of 2016, which only happens once every 20 years.
  • Gorgeous! Provided a fantastic spiritual experience and a chance-in-a-life-time to pass through the Holy Door.
  • The church itself is absolutely breathtaking. We saw it with extra decorations for Christmas and everything was amazing. Unfortunately for us, we got in at the tail end of the day, 15h55, and the volunteer monitoring the church didn't seem too thrilled. I'd rate the experience lower because the volunteer was very miserable and was trying to get everyone out as quickly as possible at the exact closing time with little interest- but I won't let one person ruin an otherwise great experience in a wonderful church.
