Montmorency Falls Park (Parc de la Chute-Montmorency), Quebec City

Waterfall State Park
Look down over Quebec's highest cascade from atop a suspension bridge at Montmorency Falls Park (Parc de la Chute-Montmorency). Plunging from a height of 83 m (272 ft), the falls stand 30 m (98 ft) taller than the more famous Niagara Falls. During the colder months, the falls feature a cone of ice known as the Sugar Loaf at their base. Ride a zipline or walk along a clifftop trail in the surrounding park; feel free to bring food with you for a picnic. Montmorency Falls Park (Parc de la Chute-Montmorency) is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Quebec City Edition.

  • Lots of stairs, but well worth the view! We were with another family of 5 & not all could manage the stairs so they drove to the top and met us there. Worked well for us so we didn't have to tackle al...  more »
  • The weather this tour is really very nice. Much less populated than the Niagara Falls and yet all too impressive (they are higher) practical side: feel free to park in the parking lot before the centre! This will avoid to pay 12 dollars of parking and places are many on-site there is a nice walk starting from the top of the falls down in the face of the falls then back on foot or by cable car. (there is also $ 12 in the second case) The upper part of the site is really pretty and friendly opportunity to cross the falls via a zip line but paying activity also

  • 15 minutes drive from Old Quebec City, this place is nice. The cable car will take you to the top of the hill. From there you will start a scenic walk. We can cross the cove of the fall by the suspens...  more »

  • Biked here and had a blast with family. The views are amazing and there's an ice cream shop at the top with friendly staff. We took the stairs up and rode the lift down to experience different views.
  • Breathtaking and thrilling! We went after hours, so we didn't pay to park. We walked along the pathway right up to the falls. We got soaked, but it was worth it. We then drove up to the upper level and it was amazing too, not as thrilling as the lower level, but you have to do both. An amazing thing to do for all ages!
  • Spectacular! Did not climb up the stairs but rode the Gondola up. The walk in the park was relaxing too although some tourists are obnoxious/pushy for the most part a delightful half day.
  • A quick bus tour stop at the falls so unfortunately I didn't have time to go up to the lookout points or make use of the cable car. Lovely place though.
  • The tallest waterfall in Canada! The view from the bottom is spectacular but from the top is still better. Pay attention to the second (or third) lookout. It has food for birds. Just wait a little and watch they come to feed. Keep your camera ready because they are fast. Make sure to cross the top bridge and explore everything there. There are so many beautiful views. And don't just stare at the falls. Check the bridge over the river and the city of Quebec too.
