La Promenade Samuel-De Champlain, Quebec City

4.8
#4 of 27 in Parks in Quebec City
Venture through La Promenade Samuel-De Champlain, a vast public walkway surrounded by a lush natural landscape and paths and facilities of modern design. Originally this area was one of the most degraded areas of the river, but today it serves as a popular spot for locals and tourists to walk, cycle, play sports, observe contemporary art, and experience the outdoors. The promenade is divided into four thematic stations--Station Cageux, Sports Station, Quays Station, and Wooded Tequenonday--all offer a unique atmosphere. Play soccer in one of the modern facilities, observe historic Native American archaeological remains, or marvel at pine trees nearly 30 m (98 ft) high. • Whether you want to take a walk along the River, biking, skating wheels aligned, relax with a good book, bring the kids, or picnic, this is the place. The view is amazing, the free and easy parking. Bring your Chair if you wish, sit and enjoy the place. Our St-Lawrence River is a great tourism, beautiful to behold.

  • Amazing spot to hang out, ride bicycle, skateboard and skate, onewheelin. Reminded me of San Francisco. We have enjoyed our stroll on the boardwalk and the view feom top of the towar was an experience. If it was the States, they would have charged for parking, for entering the area amd going on top of the tower. Love You Canada!
  • I loved eating the food and seing the land mark in its full potential.

Where to stay in Quebec City

Most accommodations cluster on the west side of the St. Lawrence River, with the city's split-level old town offering the widest range of options and best access to top attractions. Stay in the upper town to be close to the castle and enjoy views over the river. What the lower town lacks in panoramas, it makes up for in historic charm and access to riverside cafes and restaurants. If you want a less-touristy experience, consider the up-and-coming neighborhood of St. Roch, whose cafes, bars, restaurants, and artistic spaces make it an alternative traveler's paradise.
