  • At the park, we witnessed the salmon run with lots of salmon trying to jump upstream! We also spotted a black bear further downstream at a comfortable distance. Beautiful place overall, a must-see for...  read more »
  • What a beautiful park to visit if you are in the Port Alberni area. We visited on a sunny day on Thanksgiving Weekend. The fish were everywhere in the water trying to get upriver. There was a lovely p...  read more »
  • The Park is located about 14 km north of Port Alberni on Vancouver Iceland. Most of us probably go to the Pacific Rim Park. In the middle of Port Alberni is a turn-off to the Park. We were driving there to see jumping salmon. Unfortunately without success. Most salmon pass through the fish ladder. This is under a grid, so you can't really see the fish. There have been although relatively many salmon there, but jump was absent. According to the testimony of the Rangers, that is also typical. So it was hardly worth the detour from 2 times 14 km (it is necessary the same way back to Port Alberni). And who wants to should not trust the Navi. This leads one to the great central lake, so enter the right address: Beaver Creek Rd.

  • Lovely scenery. Just a very hilly walk going down river.
  • Find the trail north is a little difficult. It starts just across from the Mapboard right next to a warning sign.
  • Great place to dip your toes in cool water.
  • Breath taking hikes from the vote point.
  • One of the most amazing camping sites o have ever been to. We went camping sept 1 -15th in various spots. The salmon swimming up stream was ard to comprehend. Along the trail markers were info markers. Millions of different types of salmon use this ladder. The other thing that abundant were the slugs. Huge and numerous. Not any bother but try to move then out of harms way when setting up / breaking camp. You will not go wrong when staying here.
