  • We drove from Vancouver to visit some wineries in Penticton to enjoy this unique experience. Our first stop was a high rated Poplar Grove Winery online. As a driver, I didn’t want to have any wine, so I went on the restaurant patio to enjoy the view. Only one couple was sitting there. I was waiting for a couple of minutes when a waitress came by and asked if I needed the menu. I said not really because I am waiting for somebody, then she left. After another couple of minutes, she came back and said this section is only for people who order food. This message was delivered in a fairly cold voice and her facial expression was not pleasant. My daughter and her friend are young ladies in their early twenties with pleasant personalities. They also experienced very poor service. They are not wine drinkers but wanted to enjoy some wine sampling. They would nicely ask simple questions to the wine sample staff lady like what is your favorite wine from the menu and they told me that the lady gave them a very rude look without barely any effort to answer their questions and then she would ignore them for most of the time they were wine sampling. This winery values only customer who want to spend a lot of money. The winery was rated high by Google review which is a big surprise as this was well below my expectations and those of my daughter and her friend.
  • We have enjoyed Poplar Grove Wines for many years, and have also enjoyed the Vanilla Pod since it's Summerland Days. The winery produces some of the Valley's best wine's and the staff is second to none. Upon arriving at Poplar Grove, you will find that the decor begs a bit of sophistication. In my opinion, wine tasting should be something that is done with manners and grace. This is not a time to be loud and obnoxious, and to argue that you should have more in your glass, it is for "tasting". If you would like more wine, purchase a bottle, or a case for that matter. The persons serving you at the tasting counter are there to walk you through the wines, and help you decide on which wines you would like to purchase. To the group next to us that were rude, and disgusting, perhaps you should go back to your Coors Light that you littered in the Parking Lot. Sadly, there is not a screening program to see if persons coming in for tastings have manners, or care. We applaud all of the staff at Poplar Grove, and a special thank-you to Tanuya who took great care of us with attentive, seamless service for our late lunch reservation.
  • After hearing all about Poplar Grove from my girlfriend, we went for the annual private members evening. The wines are spectacular and the atmosphere is great near the lake. I would highly recommend a stop in if you're around the bench!
  • Can't say anything bad about this place. Everything seems upscale at this winery. The views were great, even a restaurant attached and the wines were good too. Loads of parking as well.
  • Winery is nice, their restaurant I don’t recommend, Menu needs better options. Hamburger was not available from the menu.

Where to stay in Penticton

Penticton's position between two lakes means that you're likely to enjoy waterfront views no matter where you stay. The town center, on the southern shore of Okanagan Lake, represents the most popular place to stay, with a host of motels and resorts offering views over the water. Head south down Skaha Lake Road--itself littered with accommodations--and you'll find quieter inns and motels offering vistas over the smaller but equally scenic Skaha Lake. Head just out of town along the east shore of Okanagan Lake and you can stay in a bed and breakfast or guesthouse among the region's wineries.
