Hillside Winery & Bistro, Penticton

#2 of 21 in Wineries in Penticton
Wine enthusiasts will appreciate Hillside Winery & Bistro, a vineyard with a flavorful variety of wines to sample. The winery dates back to 1984, when husband-and-wife team Bohimir and Vera Klolocka began converting their apricot orchard into a vineyard. Now owned by a group of investors and run by expert winemakers, the winery caters to a global market with a range of top-quality wines. A brief tour covers the facilities; linger over a tasting and sit down to a meal at the bistro (try the excellent soup). • Really disappointing ! I went for dinner with my family a year ago and the food was great. The last visit was not so good. The food although tasty was extremely small. My friend ordered the past dish and it came in a small soup bowl. I ordered the risotto and it literally just covered the bottom of the slightly larger bowl. It also took a long time to get to us. We were starving by the time it arrived. When my family came out for a visit this year i did not take them there, and probably will not return. It is a shame as the restaurant has great views and setting, and the wine is tasty. It is a real shame.
  • What a very pleasant experience. The people were so nice and warm. The staff was willing to show and explain about the wine with a smile. We spent most of the evening there, we had a nice lunch and left with great memories.
  • One of the best of the bench! If you can get your hands on the franc, get more hands!! But seriously, I don't think one of their wines let me down. The staff are great and the pours generous.
  • Great wines. We eat at the patio every year. This year they changed the menu and got rid of their signature amazing dishes. The new food is bland and forgettable. I will have to find a new patio.
  • Ate at the winery. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was amazing but portions are lighter. Great views from the upper deck.

Where to stay in Penticton

Penticton's position between two lakes means that you're likely to enjoy waterfront views no matter where you stay. The town center, on the southern shore of Okanagan Lake, represents the most popular place to stay, with a host of motels and resorts offering views over the water. Head south down Skaha Lake Road--itself littered with accommodations--and you'll find quieter inns and motels offering vistas over the smaller but equally scenic Skaha Lake. Head just out of town along the east shore of Okanagan Lake and you can stay in a bed and breakfast or guesthouse among the region's wineries.
