Tourist Spot
TD Place Stadium is a 24,000-seat stadium in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located at Lansdowne Park, on the southern edge of The Glebe neighbourhood, where Bank Street crosses the Rideau Canal. It is the home of the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League and the Ottawa Fury FC of the North American Soccer League . It was known as Frank Clair Stadium until it was renamed on January 7, 2014. It has existed in rudimentary form since the 1870s, and as a complete stadium since 1908.HistoryThe playing field, part of the Ottawa Exposition Grounds, was first cleared in the 1870s. It was used for equestrian events, lacrosse and rugby football. The first permanent grandstand was built on the north side of the playing field in 1908. It was demolished in 1967 to build a new set of stands with an integrated ice hockey arena underneath, known as the Ottawa Civic Centre.A small grandstand was built in the 1920s on the south-side of the field, and it was replaced in 1960. A second deck for the south-side was added during the 1970s. As of 2008, prior to lower south-side demolition, the overall stadium had a 30,927 capacity for football.

  • Beautifully re-done. Worth the visit. It was lots of fun to watch a game there. Some of the entrance and exits don't make logistical sense. But what do I know. Good job guys!
  • seems only people complaining are the ones that went to UFC night lol what do you expect ya donkies the civic centre although updated is still quite old. Stop whining. RRRRRRRRRRREDBLACKS
  • It's incredible what they've done with this area. TD Place and it's surrounding neighbourhood has given the city a much needed breath of fresh air. Be it a Redblacks,67's, or Fury game you're gonna have a good time. Make a day of it. Pretty busy on game days but great time all year round.
  • Thought the renovations to the TD Place Arena would much better, but when I finally got some Intel on the renovations and would it looked like afterwards kinda caught me by surprise. The large screen on the south side wall replaced the scoreboard and no one on the south side could see it. The players benches were moved to the north side from the south side after the 2014-15 season. I went to three games that season, and me and my friend chuckled and criticized section 1 where fans with obesity issues got to eat prime ribs and other mouth-watering foods as long as getting season tickets for $1200. The section was sectioned off with a rope and security guards present. The boxes that surround 3/4 of the arena were incomplete and left unfinished. The arena will make more sense with box seats instead of section 1 being roped off. I appreciate the renovation efforts, but whoever did it, did a piss-port job. Lets fix it before the 2016-17 season. You have 3 months. Get to work!!!
  • The stadium is beautiful. I've been here 3 times, all of which have been to watch soccer games - 2 FIFA and one road to Rio Summer Olympics game. On a sunny day, the stadium is perfect. It is only when it starts to rain that it becomes a little less than perfect as there are no covers for the stands. Once a removable roof is added to the stadium, it will definitely be worth 5 stars.
