  • Decided to try the Raceway out for lunch and play the slots for a while. The restaurant overlooks the raceway and is quite spacious, so you can sit and watch the horses getting their exercise. They ha...  more »

  • A friend and I recently went to the Rideau Carleton Raceway buffet on a Thursday night. Someone had told me that the buffet had finally improved. Not the night we went there. We should start off with ...  more »

  • Lunch for circle members was overpriced for what I ate. Ordered philly steak sandwich, but received a roast beef and cheese sandwich instead. Lineups for bedding gift promotion voucher was very long, with only two staff helping at the time. Three of the kiosk's were out of order as well. Machines were tight, tight, tight. Not much fun. Hopefully, my next visit will be better. On a more positive note, lots of new slot machines and nicely laid out (too bad they rarely paid out). Hadn't been in quite awhile.
  • First time experience was great. People behind counter are nice and eager to please. Once you are let loose on slots floor bring someone who's gone before or ask, they will help. Its a little intimidating at first but gets easier. You may even relax in the restaurant (buffet) for a break to continue after. You can make a great day of for a special occasion.
  • Good variety of slots, also available one roulette table, an animated blackjack and baccarat table. Most staff are friendly except for one of the male security guard which stares you down to the point where you really feel uncomfortable and think he has a personal issue with you. The cleaning staff definitely need retraining! I witnessed on of the staff cleaning the men's bathrooms and then using the same gloves and vacuum cleaner to do around the slots and floor. I was pretty shocked to witness this especially when he was touching the chairs with his contaminated gloves. It's a 50/50 chance to find a tissue paper in the men's bathrooms
  • Oh boy I can't say enough good things about this place. I've heard that horse racing is the sport of Kings. Come here on your birthday and they'll treat you like a king. If you bring enough guests with you (10) the birthday boy or girl eats for free. They'll let you down on the track to meet the horses and the jockeys. Racing fans of all ages are allowed to attend so bring the kids.
  • The food at the buffet was "edible", at best. I was surprised to see, with the food poisoning warnings in the media recently, that the salad was primarily romaine lettuce! The selection was minimal. The seating was crowded with the back of my chair unavoidably rubbing against the back of the chair of the person behind me. As far as the casino, possibly it was just an unlucky day for my group but left me wondering if the odds have been raised in Hard Knocks (Rocks) favor since they took ownership.
